Description
Trelliage has been created by combining two naturalistic nineteenth century patterns held in our archive. A flowering trellis design with undulating branches and flowers provides a classic structure. Then, a selection of exquisitely detailed Victorian botanical representations from another design in the archive were interspersed within the trellis pattern, giving way to a design that is `classicism recontexturalised` in the words of Giles. The Victorians were fascinated by nature, natural history, and new discoveries of flora and fauna. These extraordinary, delicate, and remarkable motifs featured In Trelliage, are a fantastical example of this, transporting us back to the era. Printed on a linen union for upholstery use. Sanderson x Giles Deacon is a sublime collection of fabric and wallpaper, designed in collaboration with British designer and couturier, Giles Deacon.
